What the Academy is
What is StudioMeyer Academy?
A German-language online school for AI Operators. Six levels from AI fundamentals (what are LLMs, prompt basics, spotting hallucinations) to your own Model Context Protocol server you can build and sell. All six levels, all playbooks, and the AI tutor are free since the April 2026 pivot and stay that way. Run by StudioMeyer, an AI studio in Mallorca. Founded in 2026.
Is this an e-commerce or Amazon FBA school?
No. StudioMeyer Academy has nothing to do with Amazon FBA, dropshipping, or e-commerce coaching. The name is similar to another German brand offering Amazon coaching — this Academy here is exclusively an AI Operator school. We teach Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, MCP servers, multi-agent systems, and prompt engineering. If you want to learn e-commerce, you're in the wrong place.
What is an AI Operator?
An AI Operator is someone who uses AI as a tool in daily work — not just chats with ChatGPT, but systematically connects tools, builds their own agents, uses memory systems, and automates processes. The term sits between AI Researcher (builds models) and AI User (uses finished products like ChatGPT). Operator is in the middle — you don't build models, but you combine existing models into real workflows. Career changers and solo founders are the typical audience.
Who is this for?
Career changers who want to make a profession out of AI. Job seekers who want visibility in the AI market. Solo founders who want to drastically increase their productivity. Freelancers who want to offer AI services. Explicitly NOT: B2B SME training for entire workforces — there are specialised providers who do that better. Explicitly NOT: kids, retirees, hobby learners without an application goal. We optimise for people who want to make money with AI.
Do I need to know how to code?
No, not for Levels 1 to 3. Those are pure understanding levels: how LLMs work, how prompts are structured, how simple automation runs with Zapier or n8n. Level 4 introduces terminal use step by step. Levels 5 and 6 assume comfort with the command line and JavaScript basics — if you don't have that yet, do Levels 1 to 3 first and learn command-line basics in parallel. Nobody gets thrown into the cold code pool.
How long does a level take?
Lessons are designed as 15- to 25-minute units. A level has between 4 and 7 lessons. Math at 15 minutes a day: Levels 1-3 each 2-3 weeks, Levels 4-6 each 4-8 weeks because of practice time on your own projects. Whoever invests more time goes through faster. The XP streak gives you light goal tracking, no pressure.
What language is the content in?
All six levels and all eight playbooks are available in German, English, and Spanish. Technical terms (MCP, LLM, prompt, token) stay English where they are internationally established. Switch language any time via the three flags in the header.
Account and login
How does login work?
Magic link by email. No passwords, no social login buttons. You enter your email, we send you a one-time link via Brevo SMTP, you click it, you're logged in. Session lasts 30 days if you stay logged in. The magic link mechanism is race-condition protected (single-use, valid 15 minutes) and HMAC-signed.
My magic link doesn't work.
Magic links are valid for 15 minutes and can only be used once. If the time has expired or you've already clicked the link (e.g. preview-fetch by your mail client), simply request a new one at /login. If the email doesn't arrive at all: check spam, then mail [email protected] with the sender domain part.
I want to delete my account.
Short mail to [email protected]. We delete within 30 days, plus backup retention. You can also use the cancellation form at /dashboard/widerruf if you want to cancel paid access within the 14-day window. Details in the privacy policy paragraph 4.
Why no social logins (Google, GitHub, etc.)?
Because we'd otherwise tie your data to OAuth providers. Magic link is simpler, more private, and works for people who are already off Google. Fewer dependencies, smaller attack surface, no tracking risk.
Pricing and Arena
What does the Academy cost?
Since the pivot in April 2026, everything is free. No level paywall, no Pro subscription, no bundle, no Earned Access threshold — all six levels, all playbooks, and the AI tutor are open for everyone. We focus the next twelve months on audience, AI citations, and StudioMeyer visibility, not revenue.
Will it become paid at some point?
Foundations stay free. If we later offer premium formats (agency bootcamp, cohort programs, MCP Ship course, AI Officer compliance), those will be separate products for people who already worked through the Academy. The entry and all Level 1 to 6 lessons stay free.
I bought Pro or a bundle before the pivot — what happens to me?
You get a refund of the share that goes beyond the pivot date (24 April 2026). Your account stays marked as Founding Supporter and keeps a dashboard badge for at least twelve months. Access-wise there is no difference anymore — all levels are open for everyone.
What is the Arena?
The second pillar of the Academy that we are currently building. You connect your own AI client (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) via MCP to our Arena server — BYOA instead of BYOK. Your bot competes asynchronously against other bots: Debate, Pitch-Off, Bug-Hunt, Memory Challenge, Memory Recall, Research Race, Random Q, Tool Mastery. Judge AI rates, ELO rating, leaderboard visible to companies. Waitlist open at /arena.
I only use ChatGPT in the browser — can I still play in the Arena?
Yes, a Random Arena flow without account and without MCP is planned: you get a one-time prompt snippet with a one-shot token, send it to your AI (ChatGPT, Claude.ai, Gemini, whatever), copy the answer back into an Arena field. Judge rates, your bot gets an anonymous fighter name in the leaderboard.
How does the streak system still work now?
XP collecting and streaks continue — just no longer as an unlock lever for Levels 4-6 (those are open anyway). XP counts for ranks, leaderboard, and later Arena readiness. Streaks give motivation and feed stats into the dashboard.
You still have Stripe in the code. Why?
Stripe code stays in the repo for a possible later reactivation (e.g. when we start premium formats). UI-side everything is hidden, the checkout API answers with 410 Gone. No prices on the site anymore, no CTAs, no upsell.
Learning and progress
What is XP and how do I earn it?
Experience points. 100 XP per completed lesson, plus a 10% chance of +50 XP and 1% chance of +200 XP as a variable reward (Duolingo pattern). Quizzes at the end of a lesson give 50-150 XP extra on a passing run, checkpoint tests at the end of a level 300-600 XP. XP counts for rank progression, the leaderboard, and future Arena readiness.
What is a streak?
A streak is the number of consecutive days you've completed at least one lesson. Miss a day and the streak drops to 0 — unless you have a streak freeze active (1 EUR add-on, stackable up to 3). Streaks have milestones at 7, 30, 100, and 365 days with their own achievement badges.
What is a rank?
Your rank reflects your XP so far. Bronze from 300 XP, Silver from 1500, Gold from 3000, Platinum from 5500, Diamond from 9500. Gold + a passed Level 4 checkpoint is the prerequisite for Talent Pool visibility to companies. Ranks are updated automatically on every XP event.
What is the AI tutor?
A Claude Sonnet 4.6-based assistant directly inside every lesson. It knows the current lesson content and can answer follow-up questions, give examples, explain terms. Pro feature — 80 questions per day per user, so costs stay controllable. Not a replacement for legal or career advice, but an understanding companion for the lesson material.
How does the review system work?
Spaced repetition with the SM-2 algorithm (SuperMemo). After every passed lesson, the quiz questions enter your review queue with growing distance (1 day, 6 days, then exponential depending on rating: again/good/easy). It helps against the 'I forgot it' problem after 2 weeks. Access in the dashboard at /review.
Are there certificates?
Yes, after every passed checkpoint test (end of each level). The certificate has a unique code and an HMAC-signed verification URL companies can check independently. Not a state-recognised diploma (not IHK, not AZAV — AZAV is phase 2 once we have enough career-changer volume), but an honest course completion proof.
Where can I ask questions or meet other participants?
In the Academy Discord. Channels per level (foundations, memory/MCP, multi-agent, MCP building), a Talent Pool channel for Gold rank, and an open small-talk room. Open for all Academy participants, Matthias reads along. Join Discord.
Talent Pool and companies
What is the Talent Pool?
An optional directory of graduates from Gold rank (3000 XP + Level 4 passed) who are open to new opportunities. Companies can filter by skills + availability + rank and contact operators directly. No recruiter layer in between, no monthly retainer, placement fee only on a successful hire. Details at /talent-pool for operators and /fuer-unternehmen for companies.
Do I have to be in the Talent Pool?
No, fully optional. Opt-in. You decide which profile data is visible (skills, portfolio, availability status), set the profile public or not, and can deactivate it at any time. Default is private.
How does payment work when a company hires me?
Directly between the company and you. Academy takes no placement fee from operators — your salary is 100 percent yours. The company pays a fee to Academy on a successful hire (15 percent of the first annual salary for permanent positions, or a flat 1,500 EUR for fractional/consulting). See /fuer-unternehmen for the company side.
What does Gold rank mean concretely?
3000 XP plus a passed Level 4 checkpoint. In practice that means: you've worked through at least 30 lessons, you've understood the memory-first workflow basics (MCP, Nex memory, hooks, skills), you've passed a quiz at the end of Level 4. With that companies don't buy your CV, but a verified state of knowledge.
Tech and AI Stack
Which AI models does the Academy use?
Claude Sonnet 4.6 for the lesson tutor (Pro feature, 80 questions/day). Claude Haiku 4.5 for the support chatbot (faster, cheaper, bottom right on every page). Claude Opus 4.7 for internal content reviews and code audits. All models from Anthropic, all Business API. Details at /ai-stack.
Is my data used for AI training?
No. Anthropic does not use Business API inputs for model training. Your tutor questions are stored at Anthropic short-term for abuse monitoring (max 30 days) and then deleted. No sharing with third parties, no training on your chats. Details in the privacy policy.
Where is my data stored?
PostgreSQL database on a dedicated Hetzner server in Germany. Emails go through Brevo (EU). Stripe sits in Dublin (EU). Anthropic API runs on US Standard Contractual Clauses (since Anthropic isn't in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, we have explicit SCCs). No data traffic outside these routes.
Is there an MCP server for the Academy?
Yes — mcp-academy on npm and GitHub. 22 tools, bearer token auth via API key. Query your Academy progress directly from Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, or Codex: lessons + 74 Recipes with validators + Knowledge Graph + AI Tutor (Pro) + daily review + quizzes + checkpoints. Generate token in the dashboard at /dashboard/keys; the Connect card has setup snippets for all four AI tools.
Is the Academy code open source?
Partially. The MCP server mcp-academy is MIT on GitHub. The Academy content is copyrighted, the operations code is private. The open-source components we use (Next.js, Prisma, Postgres, Claude SDK, Sandpack) are open.
Legal and compliance
Who is behind the Academy?
StudioMeyer, an AI studio from Mallorca, founded by Matthias Meyer. Imprint per Paragraph 5 Digital Services Act (DDG) and Paragraph 18 Media State Treaty available at /impressum. Based in Palma de Mallorca, Spain — not a GmbH, but autonomo (Spanish self-employment). Invoices include all required information for German tax purposes.
What about the EU AI Act?
EU AI Act Article 4 (AI Literacy) has been mandatory since February 2026 for providers and users of AI systems. The Academy itself has the duty to train internally, which we do. Our AI tutor carries a transparency label (EU AI Act Article 50). A dedicated playbook on the EU AI Act is at /playbooks/dach-legal-eu-ai-act-und-dsgvo.
Can I run the Academy on a company invoice?
Yes. In Stripe Checkout you can enter a company billing address + VAT ID. Invoice goes via email, contains all required details, suitable for B2B accounting. For larger company packs (3+ seats) write directly to [email protected] for volume pricing.
Still got a question?
Write directly to Matthias, usually answers the same day. Or jump into Discord — sometimes the community answers faster than I do.
